COMPLETE DENTURES NEAR YOU

Dentures are replacements for missing teeth that can be removed and put back into your mouth. A denture consists of a plate or frame holding one or more artificial teeth in place. Dentures can take some getting used to, and while they may never feel exactly the same as your original teeth, they can look natural and are now more comfortable than ever. At Chappelle Family Dental, we will advise you of all treatment options available based on your unique case.

COMPLETE DENTURE

Complete Dentures are the most common denture appliances made. After the affected teeth are removed, a complete denture can be crafted to fit either the upper arch, lower arch, or both. The upper denture has a pink denture base that extends across the roof of the mouth to create suction and help keep the denture in place.  The lower denture is u-shaped and is designed to fit snugly along the bottom ridge of the jaw.

The term “false teeth” concerns a lot of people. However, we take every step to ensure that your dentures look as natural as possible.  Innovations in replacement tooth design have come a long way in making the false teeth look incredibly natural.  Also, since the loss of teeth may have resulted in the loss of support for your lips, cheeks, and facial muscles, your new full denture will help fill out the shape of your face and instantly improve your smile!

TYPICAL DENTURE PROCESS

When it comes time to fit your full denture, it will all depend on the type of dentures you have chosen and your specific needs.  The following is a basic outline of the denture creation process and generally, you can expect the creation and fitting of your dentures to take place over several office visits.

  • Consultation: Our first goal is to evaluate your existing situation, your tooth structure, and the overall condition of your teeth and gums. We will then recommend whether more teeth need to be removed and we may facilitate the necessary removal of teeth, adjustment of teeth for anchoring dentures, restorations for anchor teeth, and implant-supported dentures.

  • Impressions: We will then refer you to a qualified denturist who will take a series of impressions of your jaw as well as measurements of how your jaws relate to one another and the space between them.

  • Models: The denturist will then create a waxed up model denture in the exact shape and position of your new proposed dentures.  This will allow you to try the models and to make sure they fit right.  Additionally, the model dentures will show you the colour and shape of your replacement teeth to ensure your satisfaction with the appearance of your new smile.

  • Casting: Once the fit, shape, and colour of the dentures have been confirmed, the final dentures will be crafted by the denturist.

  • Adjusting: Once the full denture has been created, your denturist will make sure it fits properly and continue to make any adjustments needed.  It’s important to keep in mind that adjustments may be needed from time to time as your mouth adjusts to the new denture.  If your mouth gets sore, don’t wait for it to get worse, it is recommended to contact us immediately so that we can check how your mouth is adjusting to the new denture. We are happy to help you and strongly encourage you to come in to see us for a denture adjustment as soon as you can.

PARTIAL DENTURES NEAR YOU

At Chappelle Family Dental, we offer superior solutions for patients with missing teeth with our SW Edmonton Partial Dentures.

If you are missing one or more teeth, a removable partial denture is a reliable option to re-establish the function of your mouth. A partial denture is made from durable materials that resemble your gum tissue and missing teeth. A metal framework is also made to clip onto the remaining natural teeth in order to hold the denture in place.

PARTIAL DENTURES ARE USED PRIMARILY TO:

  • Replace of missing teeth

  • Improve your ability to chew naturally and with confidence

  • Make it possible for you to eat your favorite foods

  • Maintain a healthier mouth

  • Aid in the preservation of your remaining natural teeth

  • Help prevent and treat problems of the jaw joint (TMJ)

  • Improve speech

  • Help develop a confident smile

  • Support the structures of your face for a more youthful appearance

  • Enhance your self-esteem

ARE THERE ALTERNATIVES TO PARTIAL DENTURES?

Yes, there are alternatives to partial dentures! At Chappelle Family Dental we use dental implants to replace missing teeth in a number of ways. Dental implants can be used to support a permanently cemented bridge, as a single tooth replacement with a dental crown and as an implant-supported denture, which uses a dental implant to clip the entire into place offering more support for the denture.

Unfortunately, not everyone is an ideal candidate for dental implants. If you would like to find out if dental implants are right for you, we offer dental implant consultations before you consider this treatment option.

We know that restoring your natural teeth for a lifetime of use is important to you, which is why we offer Edmonton Partial Dentures to help you achieve your goal for optimum dental health.

If you are seeking SW Edmonton Partial Dentures for yourself or for a family member, Dr. Andrew Kim at Chappelle Family Dental is here to help make the process as easy as possible.

IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURES NEAR YOU

Chappelle Family Dental offers SW Edmonton Implant Supported Dentures. Did you know there is an alternative to full and partial dentures? Wearing dentures can pose many problems — from an improper fit, clicking, and noises when eating, unnatural looking, and more. At Chappelle Family Dental we are pleased to offer SW Edmonton an alternative to conventional dentures!

EDMONTON IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURES ARE YOUR ALTERNATIVE TO DENTURES!

Dental implants can now be used to support Complete Dentures to create better support for the denture. Using dental implants, the denture “clips” into the dental implants, providing the support that is second to none!

Please be aware that the cost of implant-supported dentures is greater than that for standard dentures, but there is an added benefit in that the implant-supported solutions feel more natural, are stronger and more stable, and will help maintain your jaw bone over time.

Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for an implant-supported bridge or implant-supported denture, if you would like to explore the potential for implants supported denture solutions, we would be happy to discuss this with you during your denture consultation.

WHAT ARE DENTAL IMPLANTS?

Dental implants are made from surgical-grade materials and acts to replace the missing root of your tooth. They are surgically placed into the jawbone, and after a short period of healing, your dental implant is fitted with a ceramic dental crown or bridge to complete the restoration.

We also recommend dental implants for patients with dentures in order to maximize the fit and comfort of the denture when problems such as inadequate bone levels are or irregular bone shape interfere with the function of the denture. Patients that experience pain and irritation to their gum tissues, and resort to using denture adhesives are great candidates for implant-supported dentures.

The benefits of dental implants include:

  • Enhance the Natural Appearance of Your teeth

  • Saves the Surrounding Teeth

  • Conserves Bone Density

  • Reliable and High Functioning

  • Permanent & Very Easy to Care For

The success rate for dental implant treatment is very high. We consider dental implants as a permanent restoration. Unlike wearing a denture or partial denture that must be removed every night or worry about eating certain foods that may cause the denture to click or slip, dental implants are the closest restoration to your natural tooth structure!

FIND OUT IF DENTAL IMPLANT SUPPORTED DENTURES ARE RIGHT FOR YOU

Ideal candidates for dental implant-supported dentures have good overall health and practice routine oral hygiene practices. Adequate bone levels in your jaw are also required to support the dental implant, and healthy gum tissues that are free of gum disease is very important, in order for your dental implant treatment to be successful.
