WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ORTHODONTIC CARE?

Orthodontics treatments are considered a safe and effective way of treating teeth that are crowded. Orthodontic treatment can also be used to correct spaced teeth, crossbite issues, and other orthodontic problems. Ideally, the goal is to achieve a functional, straight smile can be which often leads to a confidence boost!

By using orthodontic treatments can also benefit your overall oral health. Having properly aligned teeth can help prevent future dental issues like tooth decay and gingivitis, especially since brushing and flossing become easier. Similarly, improving any bite irregularities can also aid in your ability to chew and speak clearly.

HOW LONG IS THE TYPICAL ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT?

The length of orthodontic treatment varies for each patient. The treatment length depends on the severity of your particular orthodontic concerns. With orthodontic treatments, nine to twelve months is considered an average timeframe for clear aligners to do their job.

I AM AN ADULT, IS ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT JUST FOR TEENAGERS?

This answer to this is NO! There is no age limit on wanting to have a perfect smile. Yes, it is ideal that orthodontic cases are treated earlier in life but many adults are taking advantage of today’s treatment options that were not available in previous years.

DOES ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT HURT?

With orthodontic procedures such as braces, your treatment should be relatively pain-free. While some patients do report a temporary discomfort at each new stage, this typically goes away after just a couple of days.

DO I NEED TO HAVE TEETH REMOVED FOR SUCCESSFUL TREATMENT?

This necessity is typically quite rare, so depending on your individual case, teeth extraction may be necessary to make enough room for your treatment to work properly. However, this will be thoroughly discussed with you by your dentist.

AT WHAT AGE SHOULD MY CHILD BE EXAMINED FOR ORTHODONTIC CARE?

If you feel your child might require orthodontic care, we suggest booking a complimentary consultation with Dr. Andrew Kim. Treatment requirements all depend on the development stage of your child’s teeth, which progresses differently for each person.

DOES MY INSURANCE COVER ORTHODONTIC CARE?

Typically, orthodontic care is covered under most dental coverage plans. However, we strongly recommend that you check with your insurance provider for the details specific to your plan. Our dental administration team is happy to answer any questions you may have about payment and insurance.

We hope you’ll take the first step towards your straighter, healthier smile by booking your consultation at Chappelle Family Dental today. Our team is here to answer all of your Orthodontic questions and concerns and to handle all of your family dentistry needs in SW Edmonton.
